NIB finances new fibre optic broadband investments in Norway
NIB has signed a 10-year loan agreement with Eidsiva Energi AS to further expand the digital infrastructure in Innlandet County, and municipalities in the region, during 2025-2029.
The NOK 500 million (EUR 42.5 million) loan will finance investments to increase the number of active fibre optic broadband network clients from approximately 100,000 to 120,000 in Innlandet County by 2029.
The project is an extension of the company’s previous fibre investment programmes, co-financed by NIB, for the rollout of fast fibre optic broadband networks for 2017–2020, 2020-2021 and 2022-2024.
The aim to increase access to fast optical fibre broadband supports Norway’s national digital strategy.
“We are pleased to support Eidsiva Energi in their ambitious project to expand the optical fibre broadband network in Norway. This investment aligns with our commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and promoting sustainable development. By increasing access to fast and reliable broadband, we are not only supporting Norway’s national digital strategy but also contributing to the overall economic growth and social well-being of the region,” says André Küüsvek, President and CEO of NIB.
