  • NIB and Lithuanian Airports have signed a loan agreement of EUR 33.4 million to finance the construction of a new arrivals terminal at Vilnius Airport.
  • The investment will increase the airport’s capacity and improve passenger flow by reducing bottlenecks, while also enhancing safety and baggage handling processes.

The financing forms part of a broader EUR 53.4 million loan agreement to support the airport’s infrastructure development programme for 2025–2028. An initial EUR 20 million has already been allocated to the implementation of a new ground transportation programme, including the acquisition of electric buses, the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and the construction of a multi-level parking facility.

Together, these investments will improve operational efficiency and support the long-term development of Lithuania’s aviation sector.

“As Vilnius Airport welcomes record passenger numbers, we are continuing investing into the latest infrastructure and airport technologies for safe and reliable operations, paired with a great customer experience. The future arrivals terminal will both open a new chapter in our history and act as a visitor’s card for the country’s main air gateway,” says Petras Akstinas, CFO at Lithuanian Airports.

“Efficient and well-functioning transport infrastructure is essential for regional connectivity and economic growth,” says André Küüsvek, NIB President and CEO. “Investments in Vilnius Airport enhance its capacity to manage growing passenger flows while supporting the transition towards more sustainable operations.”

Lithuanian Airports operate and manage the country’s three international airports: Vilnius (VNO), Kaunas (KUN), and Palanga (PLQ). In 2025, the airports collectively served 7.16 million passengers.
