Project
NIB and Aktia Bank Plc have signed a loan agreement to finance investments in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), smaller mid-caps (SMCs), and environmental projects in Finland.
The NIB loan aims to address the growing financing needs of SMEs and environmental projects in Finland. In anticipation of a rising demand for electric cars, Aktia foresees a transition in the car fleets offered to SME customers. The loan, structured as on-lending to SMEs, SMCs and environmental projects on a 50/50 basis, aligns with Aktia’s strategic vision to support this transformation.
Aktia Bank Plc, having previously received NIB’s support through various loans since 2000, focuses on providing a wide range of banking services to approximately 270,000 private and corporate customers in Finland.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The project is expected to alleviate credit constraints and facilitate productivity growth. As part of the loan is expected to be allocated towards the implementation of electric cars, the sub-loans will help Aktia increase the sustainable solutions for their lending.
Sustainability summary
Aktia will ensure that the on-lending is to eligible activities with necessary environmental permits.
